"Humble living does not diminish. It fills. Going back to a simpler self gives wisdom."
Rumi
"Man is the candle of the Lord. How important, then, that this light be kept trimmed and burning with the oil of pure Spirit through the wick of peace and joy."
Ernest Holmes
Sometimes it seems that my life is in the middle of a whirlwind. I cannot get one thing completed before four others are demanding my attention. I decided to look up the definition of whirlwind:
a current of air whirling violently upward in a spiral motion around a more or less vertical axis that has a forward motion.
As I read it, I immediately realized that if I simply take out the word violently, this would be the definition of Spirit unfolding! Then the word 'simply' popped out at me. I realize that what I get to do to shift my life from being a whirlwind into Spirit unfolding is to release the violence of past thinking and step into that simpler self that gives the wisdom that Rumi talks about.
The first step is to change the words I use:
Life has been crazy busy
It's been a whirlwind
I meet myself coming and going

The second step is to stop the violence, breathe, and to remember I am the candle of the Lord. My light in this world matters! Therefore, I get to burn the oil of pure Spirit through the wick of peace and joy, and life feels much simpler. And I am completely filled by it.
Lastly, I choose into that current of air whirling upward in a spiral motion around a more or less vertical axis that has forward motion. This is how pure Spirit unfolds in my life. As I open myself to this pure Spirit, I am filled with peace and joy
Affirmation: I choose into a simpler self, to allow my life to be Spirit unfolding. I am filled through humble living, my light burns brightly.
