Urban Peak
Urban Peak, Colorado Springs helps young people overcome homelessness and other real life challenges by providing safety, respect, essential services, and a supportive community, empowering them to become self-reliant adults. CSL supports this organization at Christmas time with financial and Christmas gifts for these teens.
Marian House Soup Kitchen
Every 2nd Saturday of the month, up to 8 CSL volunteers serve at this community outreach project by serving food, washing dishes, and cleaning the tables. Merl Wallace, Team Lead, says "We drive by them every day. They are almost invisible". Take the opportunity to know these people through service at the Marian House Soup Kitchen. See their smiles and know we are One.
Two Trees
Two Trees, Inc., a non-profit organization, was founded in 2004 by Dave Weinkauf and Mary Anne Angel to fulfill the vision of their friend, a 17-year-old Native American girl, Lakota Rose Madison. Lakota was about to leave her reservation (Standing Rock Indian Reservation in South Dakota) to get away from her life of drugs and alcohol and attend the University of Dayton, when she was murdered and raped by a gang of her peers. It was her vision to build a cultural bridge between her community and the University of Dayton in addition to building a Peace House as a refuge for the children on the rez when their parents are being abusive due to their dependence on drugs and alcohol. It is the mission of Two Trees, Inc. to carry out her vision. Their trips to Little Eagle, South Dakota, are on an annual basis. Contact: Gayle or Phil Abbott - 590-7977 - for further information.
